The actress belongs to the Luhya tribe and her stellar acting in popular TV dramas has made her a household name. She is now enthroning viewers as Cecilia in NTV the show called Noma, a protective mother figure with a haunting past and Amara Tindo (cheza Na Mali lakini Sio mwenye Mali) in Lulu Maisha magic plus. Magio has been acting for more than 20 years and has consistently made an impact.

Angie’s journey to stardom was humble and impactful. Her beginnings as an artist lie of course in her family, she was raised in Ganjoni, Mombasa with four siblings. During school years she was a talented public speaker and wordsmith, who stood out for her eloquence and charm. She wanted to be a news reporter but that was dimmed when her father passed away. So, undaunted, Angie turned her attention to fashion and performance, assisting her mother with the sewing, and eventually became interested in the acting career.

Her career as a pro actor started in 2002 through a non-governmental organization called SAFE Pwani which employed performance to sensitize people about some pressing social issues. This grassroots foundation helped Angie develop her skills as a performer, but also as a communicator with a purpose. It didn’t take long for the screen to approach me.

The occasion that made Angie Magio break out was when she played Messina, the iconic villainess in the renowned Swahili telenovela (svt) Selina and co-starring with the renowned Pascal Tokodi and Selestine Gichuhi who played Nelson and Selina respectively. Her acting was appalling and captivating and won her a lot of recognition as one of the best TV villains in Kenya. After Selina, she has been in other hit shows such as Sumu La Penzi, Dosari, Utandu, Nishike, The Kalimani Dynasty, Maza and Zari Maisha magic, playing Fridah Jaliwa, a position she played with the likes of Brenda Wairimu and Sarah Hassan in Zari show. She also portrayed the fierce Bi Fatima in the Citizen TV drama, Sultana, which gave her a chance to portray Winnie Bwire, the late Dida, as his mother.

She plays Cecilia on NTV’s Noma. With Lulu (Maisha Magic Plus), she gives fans another memorable performance as Amara Tindo. She is complimented by her vibrant acting in Zari as Fridah Jaliwa and Sultana as Fatima, thus making her one among the most versatile faces on its Kenyan TV.

Angie’s success in the acting world hasn’t made her too proud to be humble. Despite playing fearsome characters on screen, those who meet her describe her as soft-spoken, and incredibly friendly.

As a trained culinary artist, Angie is also a trained community development expert and holds degrees from Marianist and East Africa Institute of Development Studies.

She is a mother of two children, a boy and a girl Natasha Chebet and Nathan Kiptoo and says motherhood is one of the best things in her life. Her work ethic and her grace as a woman in a busy career and life is a true testament to her strength as a woman.
